My PAUSE Winter Retreat will be on Sunday, December 8, 2024. We will spend the day (11 am-5 pm) in community at the Acadia Yurts with the intention of turning towards winter & restorative, nourishing practices.
Proceeds from this event will go to help fund a new ultrasound machine for a hospital in Cambodia where my husband volunteered back in 2019 and where I also received my initial breast cancer care.
This retreat is themed around the winter season which brings short days and long nights. This time invites us to turn our awareness inward to shed light on places we may have forgotten or neglected and the opportunity to let go of what no longer serves us.
It’s the perfect time to reflect back on the past year; acknowledging how far you’ve come, how you’ve grown and evolved, and what still needs nurturing and tending to. It is a beautiful time to slow down, rest, and gently fall into a state of being rather than doing.
During our day-long retreat, we will begin by moving our bodies with a slow flow yoga followed by a mindfulness meditation activity then we will have space and time to reflect in our journals on what we’d like to let go of from 2023.
All are welcome, regardless of experience level. We’ll provide a nourishing lunch to feed both body and soul. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one, wear comfortable and weather-appropriate clothing, and don’t forget your water bottle and journal.
Take this opportunity to honor life’s cyclical nature and rejuvenate your spirit. Embrace the beauty of this transitional time or year and let your energy flow towards your true inspirations.

FAQ
Why a fundraiser for an ultrasound machine in Cambodia with a yoga retreat on Mount Desert Island?
In 2019 while volunteering in Cambodia, Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer and received preliminary care at a local hospital. While the care she received was excellent, it was limited by a lack of access to resources common in the west. When Jen returned from her time in Cambodia, she vowed to help that hospital offer care taken for granted back home, not just with breast cancer patients but across the women’s health specialty. A worldwide pandemic and a move across the country slowed the launch of this endeavor. But now that Jennifer has become part of the MDI community, this seems like a great opportunity to offer a great program for local, health-minded people while also keeping this promise she made to herself.
Can I give to the fundraiser even if I can’t come to the event?
Donations big and small are all welcome because every penny counts. When filling out the form, just select ‘This is a donation only’ and we won’t ask you all the registration questions – also thank you!
