Let’s Go yoPlay Outside

Here is a fun lesson you can do with a friend.  Partner poses are fun, they’re a great way to connect through movement.

Look into each other’s eyes, connect through communication, trust and teamwork and use your creativity to go on a little outdoor adventure.

Spring is in the air so let’s get outside and play in the park.

 

First, let’s warm up in the sun with the Sun Warmup.  It feels great to warm up our body parts with the sunshine. What a perfect way to begin an outdoor at-the-park yoga class!

 

 

Let’s find our friend and head to the park.  Let’s first go for a Swing on the swingset with our friend.  Get into partner back-to-back chair pose and begin to swing together, helping each other to not fall off the swing.  What can you see from high up on the swing?

Then we can go on the Teeter Totter, moving forward and back.

Our park is near the mountains, so with our friend, we decide to climb the Moutain together.  Face your partner, palms together and begin to climb the mountain.  Once you reach the top you are so proud of your climb that you do a happy dance and move into Happy Dancer Pose together.  (You can even add a Freeze Dance game here)

 

It’s time to head back down the Mountain to a friendly forest where you climb trees together.  Do your trees have any fruit in them?   You can pick the fruit together. Or are there any animals in the trees?  Be a Monkey or a Bird.

 

After a fun afternoon of playing outside and at the park it’s time to rest with our friend in a comfy Lounge Chair under the blue sky and floating by clouds.  Find your Lounge Chair with your partner.

Take a deep breath and Relax.  While we rest let’s have a guided visualization to help our minds and bodies relax.

Notice your breath.

Think of a time you felt really happy.

What did it feel like?

See if you can invite that happiness to smile into your heart.

Ask that smile to spread throughout your body.

Now, remember a time when someone, who you really love gave you a great big warm hug.

Can you imagine what that hug felt like?

Invite that love into your heart right now.

Imagine it as a warm glowing light, like the sun peeking through the clouds and see it shining throughout your body.

Now imagine your warm light is growing bigger and bigger.

Think of someone you really love.

Imagine your love and happiness growing so big you can send it to them.

Imagine they can feel it too.

Imagine they are hugged by the warm light.

If you let it,  this warm light can get even bigger.

Now think of a person who may have been unkind to you or a little mean.

They too wish they could feel love and kindness in their hearts.

Invite a smile to fill their hearts and wish for them to feel the loving kindness glowing throughout their bodies.

Remembering we all want to feel loved and we all want to be happy.

Feel connected to this person through this love and happiness.

You can add on and say:

Think of all the people that live near you in your neighborhood.

They too wish they could feel love and happiness in their hearts.

Invite a smile to fill their hearts and wish for them to feel loving kindness glowing throughout their bodies.

Imagine you are sending this warm glow to your entire city, then the country, and then to all beings on earth.

Remembering we all want to feel loved and we all want to have  kindness to be shown to us.

Feel connected to all beings through this love and kindness.
